Crooked Stave "Surette Provision Saison"
Crooked Stave - Denver, Colorado USA
Saison (ABV 6.2%) (IBU 20)

[Suggested Glassware: Tulip Glass]

Rating: 3.95/5.0

Aroma: 7.5/10
Appearance: 4/5
Taste: 8/10
Palate: 4/5
Overall: 16/20

The pour was hazy medium amber with an average white foamy head that slowly receded, down to a thin film with a small collar and had good spotty lacing.

The aroma was of a light biscuity grain malt, light floral hops and a musty horse blanket Brett yeast with notes of citrus (lemon), green apple, a touch of white wine, a hint of oak and a mild spiciness.

The taste was tart right off and a tad acidic with a hint of citrus in the beginning, and then became quite yeasty with a mild funky fruity wine taste and a nice mild woody spiciness towards the finish. The flavor lasted an average duration proceeding the swallow, with a tart and lightly spicy yeast taste left behind to linger on the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was just a step or two above light in body and mildly dry in texture with a soft to medium carbonation.

Overall this was and extremely tasty and rather sour Saison, with a balance of flavors that complemented each other better with every sip. What can I say; this brewer just puts out one exceptional brew after another...
