The pour was a dark murky brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) light brown head that receded into a few puddles of residue that produced some good spotty lacing.
The aroma was of a dark roasted malt, a mild resin hop and an earthy yeast with notes of chocolate, coffee, molasses and a hint of toffee.
The taste was lightly sweet and superbly malty with notes of chocolate and molasses from the start with the finish having a mild hoppy taste and a nice dose of coffee at the end. The flavor lasted a nice long time letting the malty coffee flavor which had a hint of hoppiness, settle in.
Mouthfeel was medium in body with the texture being rather creamy and having a mild carbonation.
Overall a bold, robust, full tasting brew that had just a light hint of hops which offset everything rather nicely.
