The pour was a murky pitch black with a large (2-3 finger) medium brown creamy head that had awesome retention, lasting until the end and producing some excellent clingy spotty lacing.
The aroma was nice and robust of a roasted chocolate malt, a mild resin hop and an earthy leathery yeast with notes of bitter-sweet chocolate, dark roasted coffee, molasses and a quite pronounced scent of alcohol.
The taste was bold and roasty with a sweet acidic malty flavor that had hints of molasses and chocolate at first and then having a nice bitter sweet coffee flavor take hold with a very strong alcohol presence at the end. The flavor hung on for a decently long time letting one enjoy the nice mocha coffee flavor and a nice alcohol warming sensation.
Mouthfeel was a solid medium in body with the texture being a bit oily yet a little dry towards the end with the carbonation being quite lively.
Overall a nice strong, bold and roasty brew with a good rounding of flavors and a kickin' alcohol finish.
