The pour was a clear copper orange with an average sized (1-2 finger) off white rocky head that lasted throughout and had some really excellent sheets of lace that totally coated the glass.
The aroma was pretty straight forward with a toasted light bread malt, a pine hop and an earthy yeast with notes of caramel, rye and a bit of a peppery spice.
The taste was bold and powerful with a strong malty rye flavor and a touch of caramel in the beginning and the progressed into a malty, hoppy, peppery taste with a nice dose of rye at the end. The flavor lingered for a really long time with a good hoppy rye taste left behind well after the swallow.
Mouthfeel was light to medium in body with a hoppy dry texture and a strong carbonation.
Overall a nice and strong spicy brew with a great hop overtone...
