The pour was a thick dark black with a huge (3-4 finger) light brown rocky head that had great retention, lasting throughout thus producing some really good spotty lacing.
The aroma was a little mild with a dark roasted malt and a leathery yeast and having notes of caramel, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and a hint of wood.
The taste was a strong malty sweet and a little bitter with notes of dark chocolate and caramel from the start and finished smooth and creamy with a big does of coffee and a slight woody presence at the end. The flavor only lasted a short while, fading fast and leaving a hint of coffee behind.
Mouthfeel was a few shades above medium in body with a creamy texture and a nice mild carbonation.
Overall a straight forward tasting Stout that has everything a great Stout should and more. Definitely a benefit to the style…
