The pour was a thick dark brown with a large (2-3 finger) cream colored rocky head that lasted throughout, producing some excellent sticky lacing.
The aroma was of burnt chocolate malts, grassy hops and a leathery yeast with notes of chocolate, licorice and a smidgen of dark fruit (plums and raisins).
The taste was sweetly bitter and rather malty with a note of chocolate early on and then progressed into this smooth bitter taste with hint of licorice, a small dose of dark fruit and a nice amount of hops at the end. The flavor lasted an average duration with a bitter malty smoothness settling nicely on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was medium in body and creamy yet dry in texture with a medium carbonation.
Overall a creamy and malty brew with a nice mild hint of hops which does a great job of setting off the malty sweetness...
