The pour was a deep dark black with a large (2-3 finger) medium brown creamy head that lasted throughout, finally reducing down to a large thick cap of foam with excellent sheeting of sticky lace.
The aroma was wonderfully robust with a burnt dark bread malt and a moderate dose of a leathery yeast with notes of molasses, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and a decent scent of alcohol.
The taste started with a very mild sweetness that was slightly subdued by a rich bitterness and had notes of dark chocolate and molasses. Then it became extremely bitter and mildly acidic with notes of vanilla and coffee and a strong alcohol presence towards the end. The flavor hung around for a very long time letting the taste of an alcohol infused espresso settle in nicely on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was extremely full in body with a dry creamy texture and a nice soft carbonation.
Overall this is an exceptional Imperial Stout with a ton of flavor and a smooth drinkability...
