The pour was a clear medium chestnut brown with a large (2-3 finger) light brown frothy head that did have decent retention, reducing to a thick film with a large collar and had good sheeting of runny lacing.
The aroma was of a toasted caramel malt, spruce and floral hops and an earthy yeast with notes of chocolate, coffee, brown sugar and a touch of rye.
The taste was nice and malty with a hint of chocolate and caramel early on, and then progressed into a slightly bitter sweet taste with notes of coffee, brown sugar and a touch of molasses with a mild hoppy finish. The flavor lasted an average duration preceding the swallow with a mild malty-bitter taste left to linger for a while longer.
Mouthfeel was almost medium in body and slightly dry in texture with a mild carbonation.
Overall a bold and robust tasting Brown Ale with a nice light bitterness ant the end...
