The pour was a clear dark mahogany brown with an average (1-2 finger) beige fizzy head that was fully diminishing with no lacing to speak of.
The aroma was quite intense with a toasted caramel malt and a sweet earthy yeast with notes of vanilla, rum, dark fruit (raisons and plums) and a light hint of toffee.
The taste was moderately sweet and malty with notes of caramel, vanilla and dark fruit throughout with a nice oak cask presence and a mild rum alcohol finish. The flavor lasted an average duration after the swallow with a mild boozy taste that faded slowly off the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was just below medium in body with a slight syrupy texture and a mildly soft carbonation.
Overall a fantastic tasting brew with a good sweet rum flavor and a strong malty presence...
