This is another local beer from just up the road in Silverdale, Washington. I always like to try all the local breweries and I will have to make it to their brewpub soon.
The Panther Lake Porter pours out jet black in color with just a little bit of ruby in there. Pretty opaque. Slightly viscous and topped with a two finger, dense, tan head that reduces to a film.
On the nose, there is a lot of roasted grain, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and a molasses sweetness. In the mouth, the espresso coffee flavors come through with a touch of spice and a tinge of bittering hops. The mouthfeel is almost milk like. Coating and indulgent. Moderate carbonation. Sheets of lacing on the glass. Heavy side of medium bodied. Long finish with both sweetness mid-mouth and bitterness on the tip of the tongue.
This is a very good porter that is packed with flavor. Flavor that comes to life in your mouth making you want more. Excellent job!
