A huge thanks to Ken for sending me this Natty Greene's Southern Pale Ale. Lately, I have not tried a lot of pale ales. I tend to grab a bottle of something I think will be bold and challenging my taste buds. Pale ales, while good, tend to be more subdued, more of a session beer, I've been missing out though if this pale ale is any indication. The Natty Greene's Southern Pale Ale is packed with flavor!
The Southern Pale Ale pours out a cloudy, golden-orange in color topped with a two finger, off-white, foamy head reduces down to a film slowly. On the nose, aromas of citrus and caramel with malty goodness. In the mouth, there is a lovely honeyed sweetness that is followed by a citric hop bite that perfectly balances the malt. This is one smooth craft beer. Light side of medium bodied. Good carbonation. Sheets of lacing on the glass. The mouthfeel is more clean than anything else. Slightly drying on a good length finish that is loaded with flavor.
Definitely one of the top pale ales on the market right now. If you have not tried Natty Greene's Southern Pale Ale I suggest you find a bottle or two and try it!
