Alaskan Brewing 2011 Smoked Porter

  • A once a year treat. The Smoked Porter from Alaskan Brewing Company in Juneau, Alaska has won 56 awards (if I counted correctly from Alaskan's site). If you have not tried this craft beer before I recommend you seek it out. The 2011 Smoked Porter pours out jet black in color and is opaque, topped with large, dark tan head that slowly recedes down to a  good third of an inch film. Lovely smoked almost charcaol like, bruleed sugar and roast aromas on the nose. In the mouth, flavors of chickory coffee, smokey goodness, bittersweet chocolate and mild, warm spices. Close to full bodied. Clean mouthfeel for such a big beer. Low side of moderate carbontion. Beautiful lacing on the glass. A long finish that just keeps tantalizing your taste buds.

This craft beer never dissappoints and this is the perfect time of year to savor it.

    22 ouncce bottle, 6.5 ABV

ironarrow42 Wish their beers were available in Ohio! I hear their Winter Ale is really good, too.

Mark I can check and see if they have more and send you a bottle. Last time I was there I grabbed the last bottle but they may have or might be getting more in.
