Thanks to Mike for sending me this Komodo Dragon Fly Black IPA from Upland Brewing Company in Bloomington, Indiana. Komodo Dragon Fly Black IPA pours out dark, dark brown in color with no light getting through when held up to a light and is topped with a two finger plus, deep tan colored head that slowly reduces down to a film leaving sticky lacing on the glass. Roast malts and licorice on the nose with some floral and citrussy hop aromas. In the mouth, you get a good deal of roasted malt at first followed by a citrus hop flavor and a hint of licorice. Sounds a tad weird but it works. Full side of medium bodied. Moderate carbontaion. Slight cream to the mouthfeel and almost chewy. The finish is long and this is where the hops shine through.
A really good beer I thoroughly enjoyed. Give it a try, I think you'll like it.
