Wild Heaven Ode To Mercy Imperial Brown Ale

  • Thank you Jason for sending me this Ode To Mercy Imperial Brown Ale from Wild Heaven Craft Beers in Decatur, Georgia. Ode To Mercy pours out a clear ruby tinted brown in color and is topped with a voluminous, tan head that slowly disspated to a quarter inch leaving a beautiful, sticky lacing on the glass. Very bready on the nose with almost a wheat bread aroma, a good amount of nut and some coffee. The coffee and bready flavors come through in the mouth with a good dose of coffee eclipsing towards the end. Just enough sweetness and nutty flavors. Seems like lightly toasted oak too. Medium bodied. Slight stickiness to the mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Beautiful lacing on the glass. The finish is quite long and complex.

I haven't had many imperial brown ales let alone one brewed with coffee. This works superbly. Silky smooth and well balanced. Highly recommended.

12 ounce bottle, 8.2% ABV, 40 IBU, best served at 46F

HEISCHMAN I am not sure, but I thought O'Dempsey's used Terrapin, but again I am not sure

Mark Did a little digging. O'Dempsey's used to use Red Brick but now uses Thomas Creek.
