The Double IPA from Marble Brewery in Albuquerque, New Mexico pours out golden orange in color with some cold haze and is topped with a voluminous white head that slowly reduces down to a thick film. On the nose, aromas of pine, citrus rind, honeysuckle with just a little toffee sweetness. In the mouth, this comes across sweet very briefly with a lovely toffee flavor but the hops soon take over with mouthwatering, tongue prickling bitterness. Flavors of toffee, pine resin, stone fruit and grapefruit rind. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Almost solid lacing on the glass. Quite oily mouthfeel that is almost chewy. The finish is long and mostly bitter.
A serious Double IPA that is sure to please the discerning hophead with layer upon layer of bitter hop flavor. If you like a good, well crafted, seriously bitter Double IPA this is a craft beer you must try. Highly recommended.
