Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA

  • The Torpedo Extra IPA from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company pours out a rich copper in color with some cloud and is topped with a large, off-white head that slowly reduces down to a thick film. Lots of hops on the nose with a little sweetness. Citrus, pine, flowery hops, some earth and caramel. In the mouth, caramel at first but the hops soon take over with mostly pine flavor. Some citrus and spice on the edge. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Slick mouthfeel. Persistent hop bitterness on a long finish.

A good IPA with just enough of a malt backbone to give balance but not to take away from the hoppy bitterness. A definite, go to IPA. Recommended.
