The Brewer's Share Extra Special Barney ESB from Full Sail Brewing in Hood River, Oregon pours out a deep orange in color with good clarity and is topped with a two finger, off-white head that slowly reduces down. On the nose, this is quite refined with subtle toasted malt aromas and a spicy English style hop aroma. In the mouth, this is very balanced with a good dose of bready and caramel malts with just enough spice and bitterness from the Challenger hops. Some fruitiness too. Medium bodied. Low to moderate carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Full mouthfeel with a touch of creaminess. The finish is quite long with a good amount of spice.
A really drinkable ESB with tons of flavor and not overdone. If you didn't know this was 6.5% ABV you'd think you were drinking a sessionable craft beer. I really enjoyed this brew. Highly recommended.
