The Damnation Golden Ale from Russian River brewing Company in Santa Rosa, California pours out a hazy gold in color and is topped by a two finger, frothy, white head that slowly dissipates to a thin film with a nice collar. On the nose, aromas of banana, clove, coriander, yeast and lemony citrus. In the mouth, this is grainy at first with a touch of sweetness that leaves mid-palate, where a mild hoppy bitterness takes over, only to resurface at the end. Flavors of banana, pear, coriander, yeast, pepper and some citrus. Light bodied. Prickly carbonation. Slight creaminess to the mouthfeel. Some lacing on the glass. The finish is very long and dry.
On par with the best Belgian made golden ales. Refreshing and thirst quenching with a wonderful bouquet and a ton of flavor. This is a craft beer not be missed. Suitable for aging. Highly recommended.
