The Brett Dream Brettanomyces Ale from Funkwerks in Fort Collins, Colorado pours out a pale straw in color with a little sediment and is topped with a large, snow white head that quite quickly reduces down. On the nose, green apple, white grape, a little funk and some peppery spice. In the mouth, this is sour right off the bat with a fine prickly carbonation. Earthy, funky flavors permeate the mouth with sharp, yet refreshing sourness. Slightly vinous with some sour green apple. Swirling the beer in the glass really releases the brett funk. Light bodied. Well carbonated. Some lacing on the glass. Clean, very crisp mouthfeel. Sour on an extended finish with a good deal of earth and funk.
A great sour beer made for those that like sour beers. I really liked this craft beer but if sour beers are not your thing I do not recommend this as your first foray into the world of exceptional sour beers. For the rest of you, that are into sour beers and breweries that experiment with brett as they perfect their craft, this is something you must try. Highly recommended.
