Shmaltz Brewing Coney Island Albino Python White Lager

  • The Coney Island Albino Python White Lager from Shmaltz Brewing Company in Saratoga Springs, New York pours out a rich gold in color with some cloud and is topped with a one finger, white head that reduces down pretty quickly. On the nose, ginger, faint citrus and a little bread dough. In the mouth, the ginger and anise like fennel flavors are predominant with very faint citrus and caramel. Low carbonation. Light bodied. No lacing on the glass. Clean mouthfeel. Vegetal on a moderate length finish.

While this is an interesting beer, and given that I'm not much of a lager drinker to begin with, this is not my cup of tea. A "white lager brewed with spices" that tastes more like a vegetable beer with ginger.

    12 ounce bottle, 6.0% ABV

    Beer 132 of 366 for 2012
