The Flashback India Style Brown Ale, the 9th release in the Looking Glass Series, from Boulder Beer Company in Boulder, Colorado pours out cola brown in color with a lot of ruby hues and is topped with a two finger, tightly knit, light tan head that slowly reduces down to a thick film. On the nose, this is quite a hoppy brew with a good amount of citrus aromas mixed in with powdered chocolate, molasses and roast grain. In the mouth the flavors are quite heavily roasted but not enough to stop the hoppy citrus bitterness from making solid appearance. Some coffee like flavors as well. Full side of medium bodied. Well carbonated. Almost solid lacing on the glass. Slight creaminess to the mouthfeel. The finish is long and has good roast flavors that peak then give way to an aggressive hop bitterness.
A style bending craft beer that, while not congruous to any one style, is an excellent beer. Nicely roast with a lovely hoppiness. Highly recommended.
