The Petrus Gouden Tripel Ale from Brouwerij Bavik in Bavikhove, Belgium pours out golden orange in color with a good deal of cloud and some floating sediment and is topped with a two finger, soapy, white head that reduces down quite quickly. Quite pungent on the nose with aromas of sweet malts, funk, sour orange and a little spice. In the mouth, this is quite earthy and while slightly sweet still possesses sour aspects. Flavors of fresh orange, funky yeast, honeyed sweet citrus, sour apple and spice. Medium bodied. Slightly prickly carbonation. Little lacing on the glass. Some syrup in the mouthfeel. The finish is long and quite dry with a pop of spice near the end.
A really nice beer though maybe not atypical to the Belgian Tripels I've had before. Good flavor and very drinkable. Recommended.
