The IPA from Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, Colorado pours out a clear brass in color with some coppery highlights and is topped by a two finger, dense, off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin film with a nice collar. On the nose, the dank hops are prominent with aromas of pine, citrus rind, forest floor and a hint of toffee. In the mouth, there is an initial sweet burst of toffee and caramel but this does not last long as the piney, citrus hop bitterness takes over. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Beautiful thick, almost complete, sheets of lacing on the glass. Nice oiliness to the mouthfeel. The finish is long and mostly bitter finishing on the dry side.
A superior IPA with great flavor and sustained hoppy bitterness. Highly recommended.
