The Leffe Brune from Abbaye de Leffe in Belgium pours out a dark brownish red and is topped with a two finger, foamy, light tan head that reduces down to a thin film. On the nose, dark fruit, slightly roasted grain, yeast and a touch of sweetness. In the mouth, flavors of prune, brown sugar, molasses, yeast, peppery spice and a slight medicinal flavor. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Sheets of lacing on the glass. Very mild syrup in the mouthfeel. The finish is long and flavorful.
A very nice Belgian with good flavor. Not overly sweet but there is a definitive sweetness there. Complex flavors. Recommended.
