Thanks to Ken for sending me this bottle of Florida Lager from Florida Beer Company in Melbourne, Florida. Florida Lager won the Bronze Medal at GABF 2011 in the American Style Amber Lager category. Florida Lager pours out a brassy in color with some copper hues, a little cold haze and is topped with a huge white head that quite quickly reduces down to a thin film. On the nose, biscuit, lemon, spice and leafy, floral hops. In the mouth, good flavor with a crisp, clean mouthfeel. Flavors of light citrus, a little yeast, biscuit and grassy, herbal bitterness. Light bodied. Well carbonated. Some lacing on the glass. Clean mouthfeel. Good length on the finish with the spice and slight bitterness lasting.
A good lager with good flavor and crispness that is perfect for a hot day. Recommended.
