Thanks to Mike for this bottle of Rail Splitter IPA from Triton Brewing Company in Indianapolis, Indiana. Rail Splitter IPA pours out a deep coppery amber in color with good clarity and is topped with a one finger, dense, off-white head that slowly reduces down to a thin film with a slightly larger collar. On the nose, pine and citrus with an underlying toffee sweetness. In the mouth, toffee sweetness at first until the hops kick in with earth pine and citrus rind bitterness. Medium bodied. Low carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Nice oil to the mouthfeel. The finish is long, juicy and tilts toward bitter at the end.
A good IPA with a nice balance. Good flavor but not overly bitter. Recommended.
