The Major Tom's Pomegranate Wheat Ale from Fort Collins Brewery in Fort Collins, Colorado pours out a pale straw in color with some cloud and is topped with a one finger, fluffy, white head that slowly reduces down to a thin film. On the nose, wheat, sweet fruit and yeast aromas. In the mouth, this starts out tart and slightly grainy which is soon replaced with fruity sweetness that carries through to the finish. Flavors of wheat, yeast, pomegranate and a little bread. Light bodied. Moderate carbonation. Sheets of lacing on the glass. Fairly clean mouthfeel. Moderate length finish with some sweet and tart characteristics.
A decent wheat ale with good flavor. If you like fruity wheat beers I think you'll like this. The sweetness was too elevated for me but then I do not have much of a sweet-tooth so that may well just be me. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
