The Bridge Burner Special Reserve Ale from Lakefront Brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin pours out a deep brown in color with some light getting through revealing dark copper hues and is topped with over a two finger, tan colored, foamy head that slowly reduces down to a film. On the nose, quite hoppy with dark roasted grain, fruit and toffee. In the mouth, smooth with good flavor, nice hoppiness and a solid malt backbone. Flavors of molasses, toffee, roasted grain, ripe fruit, piney hop bitterness and faint citrus. Medium side of full bodied. Low to moderate carbonation. Slightly viscous, sticky mouthfeel. Tons of lacing on the glass. The finish does not want to quit. Layer upon layer of flavor slowly cascade away leaving a lingering bitterness.
What a wonderfully drinkable strong ale. Layers of flavor pleases the palate and give complexity. This is one well crafted brew. Recommended.
