Widmer Brothers Omission Pale Ale

  • The Omiision Pale Ale from Widmer Brothers Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon pours out a coppery amber in color with good clarity and is topped with a two finger, off-white head that slowly reduces down to a film with a quarter inch collar. On the nose, citrus, flower and some caramel. In the mouth, fresh orange and grapefruit flavors with earthy pine, grain and some caramel sweetness. Light side of medium bodied. Good carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Good length with a nice balance of bitter and sweet on the finish.

For a gluten free craft beer I say Widmer Brothers has a home run here. Tough to compare it to regular craft beer but if I had celiac disease I'd be happy to pop a few of these open and enjoy them throughly. Good flavor and balance. Recommended for the craft beer drinker, highly recommended for the gluten intolerant craft beer drinker.
