The Fire Rock Pale Ale from Kona Brewing Company in Kona, Hawaii pours out a clear, bright copper in color and is topped with a two finger, frothy, off-white head that slowly reduces down to a thick film. On the nose, orange, grapefruit, pine and caramel. A little dank too. In the mouth, quite malty at first with sweet toffee and caramel flavors that are cleaned up by juicy, slightly bitter grapefruit and orange hoppiness. Light side of medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Good flavor on a rather long finish.
A very good pale ale with nice balance and good flavor. Recommended.
