Avery Brewing Ellie's Brown Ale

  • The Ellie's Brown Ale from Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, Colorado pours out a cola brown in color with some light getting through on the edges, small floating sediment particles and is topped with just over a finger of dense, foamy, tan head that reduces down to a thin film with a quarter inch collar. On the nose, aromas of roast grain, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar and a little nut. In the mouth, good flavor robust in malts. Flavors of chocolate, light molasses, roast grain, biscuit and toasted nuts. Medium bodied. Thin sheets of lacing on the glass. Moderate carbonation. Silky, very smooth mouthfeel with just a touch of cream. The finish is long with the roasted grain and chocolate hanging on the longest.

A wonderful brown ale with lovely flavor. Solidly made and a delight to drink. Recommended.
