Rogue Ales John John Ale

  • The John John Ale (Dead Guy Ale Aged in Dead Guy Whiskey Barrels) from Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon pours out an orangey copper in color with some cloud and sediment and is topped with a two finger, off-white, foamy head that reduces down to a thick film with a nice collar. On the nose, caramel, wood, vanilla, cream and hints of whiskey. In the mouth, wonderful balance that lets the flavor shine. Flavors of caramel, bread, vanilla, spice and wood tinged with a hint of whiskey. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Thin sheets of lacing on the glass. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Balanced flavors on a medium-long finish.

A really good craft beer. Great flavor, balance and subtle whiskey hints that are not full blown and overdone. Recommended.
