Full Sail Top Sail Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter

  • The Brewmaster Reserve Top Sail Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter from Full Sail Brewing Company in Hood River, Oregon is aged for 1 year in Maker's Mark, Jim Beam & Austin Nichols bourbon barrels. This 2012 release was brewed in January 2011 and released in February 2012.

Top Sail pours out pitch black in color with no light getting through and is topped with a two finger, dense, mocha colored head that very slowly reduces down. On the nose, big bourbon aromas dominate while vanilla, dried plum, chocolate and roasted grain play in the background. In the mouth, luxuriously smooth with both sweet and bitter flavors balancing each other. Flavors of bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, roast grain, hints of smoke and a little molasses. Full side of medium bodied. Low carbonation. Thick, almost solid, sheets of lacing on the glass. Slightly viscous mouthfeel. The finish is incredibly long, roasty and laced with bourbon flavor.

Another solid craft beer from Full Sail Brewing Company. Solid flavors, very smooth and a treat to drink. Highly recommended.

22 ounce bottle, 9.5% ABV, 40 IBU, Brewed January 2011, Released February 2012
