The Linchpin IPA, a collaboration between Green Flash Brewing Company in San Diego, Ca & Founders Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, MI, pours out a yellowy orange in color with some cloud and is topped with a large, pillowy, snow white head that lasts a very long times. On the nose, pungent with spice and hops. Aromas of Belgian yeast, flowers, orange, lemon and bubblegum. In the mouth, hop forward with good bitterness built over a Belgian like background. Flavors of pine, lemon, peppery spice, light banana, some citrus and caramel. Light side of medium bodied. Vibrant carbonation. Thick sheets of sticky lacing on the glass. Fairly clean mouthfeel with just a little chew to it. The finish is long and dry with lively flavor.
A very flavorful, Belgian style IPA that has a lot of hops giving sustained bitterness in the mouth. The West Coast Hophead has met the Belgian base. Recommended.
