The duganA IPA from Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, Colorado pours out a clear copper in color with a tall, off-white head that exhibits good retention. After a few minutes, there is still a good half inch head. On the nose, big hoppy aromas. Pine, fresh grapefruit and some candied orange. In the mouth, lovely hop bitterness with a decent malt backbone providing some candied sweetness but the hops rule here. Flavors of pine resin, citrus rind and a tickling of caramel-orange. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Slightly slick mouthfeel. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. The finish is long and wonderfully bitter with more pine hanging on right throughout the end.
A wonderful, hoppy, bitter IPA with great flavor. Tilted towards the hop end but there is some sweetness providing a little balance. If you like your beers hoppy and bitter this will be a hit for you, like it was for me. Highly recommended.
