The Paradise Nines Project American-Belgo IPA from Paradox Beer Company in Woodland Park, Colorado pours out a orange in color with some cloud and is topped with a creamy, off-white, dense head that slowly reduces down to a thick film. On the nose, lovely wine barrel aromas mingle with Belgian yeast. Aromas of toasted oak, spice, white grapes, yeast and just a hint of orange and booze. In the mouth, balanced with good Belgian flavor and nice crispness. Flavors of orange, spice, grape, apple, lemon, vanilla and just a hint of caramel. Light to medium bodied. Vibrant carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Clean, crisp mouthfeel. The finish is long and dry with wonderful flavors; spice outlasts the others.
A very good craft beer that takes subtle hops and the flavors of a Belgian Tripel and melds then with the toasty wood flavors of a wine barrel. Complex and very drinkable with a vinous accent. Recommended.
