Anchor Brewing Co. Humming Ale Review

  • The Humming Ale from Anchor Brewing Company in San Francisco, California pours out a clear, golden orange in color and is topped with just over a finger of white, evenly bubbled head that reduces down to a film with a decent sized collar. On the nose, quite clean with mostly hops and a tinge of sweetness. Aromas of wild flower, grass, lemony-orange, bread and a hint of caramel. In the mouth, slightly tilted towards the bitter over sweet with clean, crisp flavors. Flavors of orange, lemon, light pine, biscuit, caramel and a light sprinkle of pepper. Moderate carbonation. Light to medium bodied. Slightly slick mouthfeel. Sheets of lacing on the glass. Good length on a slightly drying, somewhat bitter finish that really invites you to take another sip.

An exceptionally crisp and clean pale ale with good balance. Easy drinking and very refreshing. Almost seems sessionable with the 5.9% ABV being well hidden. Recommended.
