Tommyknocker Small Patch Pumpkin Harvest Ale Review

  • The Small Patch Pumpkin Harvest Ale from Tommyknocker Brewery in Idaho Springs, Colorado pours out a mahogany brown in color with some deep ruby hues and is topped with just over a finger of tightly knit, tan colored head that slowly reduces down to a thin film with a small collar. On the nose, wonderful warm fall scents fill the nose. Aromas of pumpkin, molasses, warm fall spice, nuts and brown sugar. In the mouth, lovely balance with just enough pumpkin and spice but not overdone. A nice sweetness from the molasses really kicks this craft beer up a notch and helps bring out a mild nuttiness. Medium bodied. Fine carbonation. Thin sheets of lacing on the glass. Slight creaminess to the mouthfeel that becomes more prominent as the beer warms. The finish is medium in length with the molasses and pumpkin clinging on to the end.

I like this pumpkin harvest ale from Tommyknocker Brewery a lot. It has good balance with the right measure of each ingredient so they play well together without trying to mask the other. Just enough sweetness as well. Recommended.
