The Oktoberfest Lager from Sun King Brewery in Indianapolis, Indiana pours out a clear orange in color with some golden hues and is topped with just over a finger of tightly knit, white head that reduces down to a thin film with a quarter inch collar. On the nose, pretty clean with aromas of biscuit, bread, caramel, spice and a little flower. In the mouth, this is a very smooth drinking craft beer with good but understated flavor. Flavors of bread, caramel, herbs, earth and a slight bitter hop bite. Light bodied. Good carbonation. Clean mouthfeel. Some lacing on the glass. The finish is fairly long with the malty sweetness slowly fading away leaving a spicy hop characteristic right to the end.
I liked this take on an Oktoberfest lager. More subdued flavors but in no way does that take away from the quality of the beer. Good flavor and balanced. Recommended.
