The High Roller IPA from Big Boss Brewing Company in Raleigh, North Carolina pours out a murky, burnt orange in color and is topped with two fingers of dense, off-white head that slowly reduces down to a fairly thick film with a good sized collar. Mostly bitter on the nose with aromas of pine, citrus, biscuit and caramel. Nice hop flavors in the mouth with a decent, but underlying, malt profile. Flavors of pine, grapefruit rind, earth, spice, biscuit and a faint caramel sweetness. Medium bodied. Good carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Lovely oil to the mouthfeel with a slight chew. The finish is quite long with the bitter hops just outlasting the peppery spice.
A very well crafted India Pale Ale with solid bitterness that is persistent. Enough malt to keep things in check but made for the hophead. Really liked this IPA. Recommended.
