Firestone Walker Pale 31 California Pale Ale Review

  • The Pale 31 California Pale Ale from Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, California pours out a golden yellow in color with some cold haze and is topped with just over a finger of snow white, frothy head that reduces down to a very thin film with a small collar. On the nose, nice and hoppy with a solid amount of sweetness. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, biscuit, caramel and a little flower. In the mouth, this is a solid pale ale with a good amount of hops. Flavors of orange marmalade, grapefruit, biscuit, a little pine and a touch of spice. Light to medium bodied. Good carbonation. Thin sheets of lacing on the glass. Clean mouthfeel with just a tad of stickiness. The finish is quite long for a pale ale with the orange marmalade like flavors hanging out with some mild peppery spice right to the end.

A fantastic pale ale. Thirst quenching, clean and easy drinking with great flavor. What more can you ask of a pale ale? Highly recommended.
