The Vanilla Porter from Breckenridge Brewery in Denver, Colorado pours out a blackish brown in color with some light getting through showing of deep ruby hues and is topped with a two finger, mocha colored, creamy head that slowly reduces down to a thin film with a decent sized collar. This looks spectacular in the glass. On the nose, rich vanilla aromas incorporated with Whopper's malted milk balls, chocolate and a little toffee. In the mouth, smooth and quite rich though not as heavy as it looked. Flavors of vanilla, coffee, a little cream and some dark chocolate with bitterness coming in towards the end. Medium bodied. Fine carbonation. Sheets of lacing on the glass. Slight creaminess to the mouthfeel. The finish is fairly long with the vanilla outlasting the coffee and any sweetness.
A nice, easy drinking porter with a good dose of vanilla added. Light enough and low enough in ABV to have a few by the fire as the days and nights cool. Recommended.
