The Lips of Faith Series Biere de Garde Ale (brewed with orange peel), a collaboration from Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids, Michigan and New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado, pours out a perfectly clear gold in color and is topped with a one finger, finely bubbled, white head that reduces down to a thin film with a small collar. Quite fruity on the nose. Aromas of orange, apple, white grape and a very faint funk. Clean and refreshing in the mouth. Flavors of apple, orange and somewhat wine like with the grape flavor, a slight earthiness, some peppery spice and a mild herbal note. Light to medium bodied. Champagne like, effervescent carbonation. Some lacing on the glass. A very slight stickiness in the mouthfeel. The medium dry finish is quite long with the fruit flavors and a dash of peppery spice riding right to the end.
A well made craft beer that is both light and flavorful. Crisp and clean; a treat to drink with the 9.0% ABV barely noticeable. I liked this. Recommended.
