The DayTime Fractional IPA from Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma, California pours out a very clear gold in color with a two finger, snow white, meringue like head that that slowly reduces down to a thin film with some thicker splotches of foam floating and a nice sized collar. On the nose, this is very clean with lovely hop aromas that seem devoid of any accompanying, malty sweetness. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, pine, tropical fruit, peach, melon and just a tiny bit of sugar. In the mouth, good, hop driven bitterness and very clean. Flavors of orange rind, pine, fresh grapefruit juice, tropical fruit and a tiny bit of malty sweetness. Well carbonated. Clean Mouthfeel. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Light bodied. The finish is bitter and slightly tart with most of the flavors falling away quickly leaving only the grapefruit juice flavor to last right to the end.
A very light ale with good flavor, good bitterness that does not fill you up. Sort of a sessionable IPA that has all the bitterness you'd want without the malt weighing the craft beer down. I think you'll like this; give it a try. Recommended.
