Dry Dock Brewing Hop Abomination IPA

  • The Hop Abomination IPA from Dry Dock Brewing Company in Aurora, Colorado pours out a cloudy, burnt orange in color and is topped with a two finger, dense, off-white colored head that hangs around for a while before receding to a quarter inch film with a slightly larger collar. On the nose, big hops. Mostly pine, citrus rind and resin aromas that are slightly dank. In the mouth, good bitterness from the hops with enough of a malt backbone to lend some balance. Flavors of pine, citrus rind, sour orange, grapefruit, earth and a light toffee-caramel. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Slightly slick mouthfeel. Thick sheets of lacing ring the glass. Good length in a mouth watering finish that has a wonderful, persistent bitterness right to the end.

Dry Dock Brewing just began canning their craft beers about a week ago so this is very fresh. The hops are the star showing off their bitterness as they shine. A good IPA for the hophead in you. Recommended.
