River North Brewery Anniversary Ale 1 Imperial Stout

  • The Anniversay Ale 1 Imperial Stout from River North Brewery in Denver, Colorado pours out pitch black in color with no light getting through and is topped with a one finger, dark tan, tightly knit head that reduces quite quickly, leaving a very thin film with a large collar. On the nose, rich, deep and roasty. Aromas of deeply roasted grain, molasses, charcoal and licorice with a hint of chocolate and espresso. In the mouth, thick, coating and robust. Flavors of chocolate, lactose, roast grain, light coffee, Belgian yeast and a hint of smoke. Full bodied. Relatively low carbonation. Splotchy lacing on the glass. Thick, chewy, viscous mouthfeel with a hint of cream. Roast flavors ride a long wave on a very long finish outlasting all the other subtilties and complexities.

A big stout that is packed with flavors that coat your mouth as you sip your way through this big brew. One bottle is enough for two people to share but you will not be dissappointed if you have to drink this alone. Light a fire, put your feet up and sip this beauty to your contentment. Highly recommended.
