The Rampant Imperial IPA from New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado pours out a clear, brassy-golden in color and is topped with a two finger, snow white head that slowly reduces down to a thin film with a slightly larger collar. On the nose, citrus rind, orange, tangerine, pine and toffee. In the mouth, a good amount of malt but not enough to mask the delicious hop flavors. Flavors of orange, grapefruit, citrus rind, a touch of pine and a little toffee. Medium bodied. Good carbonation. Thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Slightly slick mouthfeel. The finish is quite long with the bitter hops holding out all the way though.
A very good Imperial IPA with fantastic flavor and just enough malt to give some balance. For the price, $4.99, it would be hard not to buy this again especially if hoppy, imperial IPAs are you thing. I really liked this craft brew. Highly recommended.
