The Tree Shaker Imperial Peach IPA from Odell Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado pours out a cloudy orange in color and is topped with a large, white, foamy head with wonderful staying power. The head finally recedes to a rocky film with a large collar. On the nose, intricate with wonderful fruitiness. Aromas of ripe peach with a dose of citrusy hops, earth and a little caramel. Light marmalade sweetness at first in the mouth that becomes bitter as the hops punch through the sweetness. Flavors of peach, orange, marmalade, stone fruit, earth, a hint of caramel and a bit of booze. Medium bodied. Well carbonated. Almost solid lacing on the glass. Nice oily texture to the mouthfeel. The finish is long and while the malty sweetness keeps trying to shine the hop bitterness outlasts the malt only to be outlasted by the peach flavor.
A very different Imperial IPA and a very good one. The peaches add a wonderful dimension to the complexity of the brew and perhaps a touch of sweetness too that reels in the hop bitterness a tad. I thoroughly enjoyed this craft brew. Highly recommended.
