The Blue Series First Cast IPA from Elevation Beer Company in Poncha Springs, Colorado pours out a golden-amber in color with good clarity and is topped with a two finger, dense head that slowly reduces down to thick, rocky film with a slightly larger collar. On the nose, quite earthy and bitter. Aromas of pine, earth, orange rind, biscuit and a hint of caramel. In the mouth, bitter with some malt sweetness and very clean. Flavors of pine, grapefruit, some mango, definite earthy tone, light caramel sweetness and a little spice. Medium bodied. Fine carbonation. Very thick sheets of lacing on the glass. Nice oily texture to the mouthfeel. The finish is long and the bitter hops ride right to the end.
Another excellent craft beer from Elevation Beer Co. Solid bitterness with good flavor and enough malt to provide balance. Not quite 'West Coast Style' bitter but getting close to it. I'll be buying this again. Recommended.
