The Blue Series Little Mo' Porter from Elevation Beer Company in Poncha Springs, Colorado pours out very dark brown in color with some ruby hues when held up to the light and is topped with a two finger, cafe au lait colored head that reduces down to splotchy film with a quarter inch collar. On the nose, aromas of deeply roasted grain, coffee, licorice, chocolate and a little caramel. In the mouth, the roast grains are predominant with solid coffee flavors slightly in the background accented by chocolate, light caramel sweetness and molasses. Medium bodied. Moderate to low carbonation. Almost solid lacing on the glass. Mild creaminess in the mouthfeel. The finish is long and the roast grains ride all the way to the end, closing out all the other flavors, as they linger.
A very well crafted porter with lovely, deeply, roast flavor yet still very drinkable. This tastes big but does not weigh you down. Recommended.
